  Dorf Kapelle ("Village Band")

Capturing the traditional ethnic style of the typical European Village Band, Dorf Kapelle has thrilled audiences at major festivals, stage performances, dances and concerts through out Wisconsin. Formed in the summer of 1988, this group of fine musicians is dedicated to the reproduction of European wind music which includes polkas, marches, waltzes and specialty selections performed in the ethnic style of its origin.

The Instrumentation of the band consists of one flute/piccolo, three clarinets, two flugelhorns, one trumpet, three trombones, two tubas, one tenor horn, one euphonium, percussion, sound specialist and vocalist. In addition, the band often splits into smaller combos using accordions, alphorns and other Austrian style instrumentation to provide an incredible variety of musical styles, and show its entertainment versatility. We are probably the only band in the world with 3 Alpenhorns in the key of Ab. We came accross these instruments by accident and their purchase was a must. Jim Kelly, Marcie and Jim Ninnemann take them everywhere they go.

The Music performed by the Dorf Kapelle comes from all sources, with priority to the famous Ernst Mosch band of Germany. Other music comes from various German and Czech composers as well as arrangements written specifically for the Dorf Kapelle by members of the band. The band's use of highly skilled professional and semi-professional musicians, using "imported" & "special" musical arrangements make an unparalleled musical and entertainment presentation to its audiences.
