| Fasching, Fastnacht, Fastnet, Karneval, Carneval and Mardi Gras. No matter what you call it, many cultures throughout the world celebrate the pre-lenten season with elaborate celebrations and revelry. Whether intended as one last fling before the fasting and austerity of lent or just to scare away the evil spirits of winter, we gather together at Laack's Hall in Johnsonville, WI for three fun filled weekends in February for great food, spirits and entertainment by Dorf Kapelle.

The Great Fasching Fest Hall
The merriment begins as you enter the Great Fasching Fest Hall (reminiscent of the great bier halls of Germany) and select one the fine imported biers or weins. Or perhaps, a little Jagermeister to warm your tummy on a chilly February day! Now it's time to select your seat and prepare yourself for a feast fit for a king. Mad King Ludwig himself would be impressed! |

Let Us Entertain You
Now sit back and enjoy as Dorf Kapelle entertains you with more than two hours of great music and songs performed by some of the best musicians in Wisconsin. Perhaps you'll be selected to direct the band,
get a dance lesson or enter our tuba playing contest, but if not, there will be plenty of audience participation. By the end of the performance you will be praying for one of those great Wisconsin February snow storms so we can spend the weekend together! |
Costumes Optional
In Germany, the people dress in elaborate costumes for Fasching and/or Karneval. At the Dorf Kapelle Fasching costumes are optional. On the right, several members of the Milwaukee German Society come in full costume to add to the festivities. |
